Things have been going pretty well at both studios in the last two months. I’m finally acclimating and getting into the rhythm, especially with my young students. It amazes me how quickly small children can progress, and how many things crossed over from my early childhood music course last fall. A lot of my peewees (ages 4-7) are showing amazing progress. I never thought I would be able to apply some of those concepts to strings teaching but everything has really been coming together nicely.
My methodology and execution are becoming cleaner and easier, and I’ve been taking more time to research and prepare for each student. (Which seems to be coming a long way.) Connections from my practicum are finally starting to come to use, it’s mostly the professional and energy aspects. The latter being the hardest thing to show during practicum but for some reason is so easy now. (Perhaps that’s because I’m in a studio, I set my own curriculum, and I’m not constantly under scrutinization.)
I’ll definitely be sad to (possibly) leave this job next year, but for right now I’m just going to enjoy the experience and the learning.
